Annual Veterans Day Ceremony Scheduled

All veterans and the public are invited to our annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Carencro Veterans Memorial. This community event offers heartfelt appreciation for the service of our military men and women. A special feature of this year’s ceremony is a tribute to Korean War veterans. It’s a wonderful morning of patriotism and gratitude.

Highlights include:
• Tribute to Korean War veterans by La. State Senator Gerald Boudreaux
• Recognition of all veterans in attendance and all branches of the military
• Patriotic art display by elementary school students
• Presentation of winners of the middle-school student patriotic essay contest
• Video display of local veterans’ photos, historic and recent
• Music and refreshments

Veterans can have their military photos scanned for display by bringing the photo to Melancon Funeral Home no later than Oct. 27. Please submit this form with your photo. You may also email a .jpg of the photo to and indicate “Veterans Video” in the subject line. Call Jessica at 337.896.8596 to confirm receipt. Thanks to Melancon Funeral Home for offering this service for the past several years!

The Carencro Veterans Memorial is adjacent to City Hall, 210 E. St. Peter Street. We hope you’ll join us for this very special day.
