District 2 Council Member will hold a Town Hall Meeting on proposed Charter Amendments

Constituents of District 2:

As some of you now know, and more of you will discover, there is an ordinance being considered by the Lafayette City-Parish Council to divide its legislative functions by creating separate City and Parish Councils for the City and Parish of Lafayette, respectively. THIS IS NOT DECONSOLIDATION!

There have been many questions posed and opinions offered, all of which are good and appropriate processes of democracy. Unfortunately, however, there have also been some inaccurate, misleading and uninformed comments.

As intended all along, this issue will be explained, discussed and addressed so that all citizens will have the ability to consider what is in their best interest and cast an educated and informed vote in December, should this measure reach the ballot box. You will have a chance to view the maps and better understand the charter amendments.

I will host the Town Hall meeting at the Carencro Community Center on Thursday July 19, 2018, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The consideration for this action is of great importance and I encourage everyone to gather as much information as possible from a reliable and trusted source.
