Veterans Day Ceremony

Carencro Veterans Memorial, 210 E. St. Peter Street
Free and open to the public

The Carencro Veterans Day Ceremony truly captures the essence of community. This annual event brings residents together to honor the service of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. In addition to expressing appreciation of all veterans, our 2019 ceremony will pay special tribute to Peacetime Patriotism, recognizing veterans who served from the end of the Vietnam War until 9/11 in 2001.

Lynn Guidry, chair of the Carencro Veterans Memorial committee, notes, “Each year, we try to bring special attention to a particular group of veterans during our event. We’ve generally focused on major conflicts and wars through history, yet there are many thousands of veterans whose service came during what’s referred to as “peacetime” although there was battle service and casualties of U.S. military during these years. We think it’s important to note the service of these veterans, as well.”

The event also will feature student art and essays on the theme of patriotism. Veterans in attendance will be honored, and there will be patriotic music and refreshments. Please join us!
